June 16: Vance-Granville Food Truck Rodeo

Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus added a Food Truck Entrepreneurship program this past month that wrapped up this week.  Seems the college has food truck fever, as they will have a mini food truck rodeo Tuesday June 16th from 5 to 8 pm.

Food trucks Chick-N-Que, Ladybugs Treats, and Virgil’s Jamaica are a few already schedule to be on campus that evening.

The rodeo is also a capstone for the aforementioned program.  Students who attended the program can see a live demonstration of food trucks in operation.  During this time they can observe and asks questions to the operators.

Queen Harris, served as the instructor for the workshops. Harris and her husband have been operating a food truck for more than six years and recently also opened a restaurant. Through the VGCC series, Harris helped guide participants through the steps of planning, starting and maintaining a food truck or food cart business.

The program will start again in August (see “Art of Food Truck” on the Personal Enrichment schedule).

The campus is located on N.C. 56, just west of Louisburg.
