A huge hit last year! The group that brought Fayetteville Street food trucks is planning another rodeo series.
Maybe it’s the Spring-line weather we had lately here, but I feel the itch of the Summer/warm weather Food Truck Rodeos starting to come. I am not sure if its the size and magnitude of closing four to five city blocks for food trucks and vendors. But the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeos seem to be largest in number and size in the area. They also attracted trucks outside of the Triangle area (last rodeo had a popular truck from Charlotte!)
It is still too early to report what the line-up will be, but you may want to mark your calendars.
Sunday, May 11th, 2014 – 1pm-6pm
Sunday, June 8. 2014 – 1pm-6pm
Sunday, August 10, 2014 – 4pm-9pm
Sunday, October 12, 2014 – 1pm-6pm
(non-Triangle readers: Columbus Day is October 13th!)
They are also trying to raise money through a Kickstarter now through April 10, 2014. The funding will help support the expenses to kick these events off. Judging from last year, these events were well-run with benches, generators, info booths, and other infrastructure-like items. They also asked for feedback each event and ask for new ideas this year. A few of the Kickstarter perks include “Early Bird” passes (a great perk for Chirba Chirba rodeo fans, in my opinion), private parties, and one perk which reads like a food truck simulation.

I’ll keep an eye and update with maps / line-ups, etc.

Parking Tip: For rodeos, I try to park in this garage. You can access this from Wilmington from I-40 or Blount (entrance pictured) from North Raleigh. I even park here when I go downtown for weekday things.
Update! Talked to Raleigh Food Truck on what I call the simulation, real name “Boot Camp”. The truck is Captain Ponchos 2nd truck and the 8 perks are all the team members. Two mentors he mentioned were Chirba Chirba and Hibachi Xpress, two well-established, respected trucks. I predict this will be the sought after perk, so if you are interested do it now!
You are the food truck..guru. Do people have October 13? Schools don’t. I guess bankers do.:)
