Thursday, May 29th
Oak City 7 kicks off tonight with 5 bands: Atlanta Rhythm Section, Roseland, Bobby Bryson & Co, Wichita Falls, and Eric + Erica. The event is in Downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street in City Plaza. The food trucks in attendance are: Baguetteaboutit, Chirba Chirba Dumpling, CJ’s Street Food, Hibachi Xpress, The Humble Pig, Pie Pushers, SweetWater Ices, and Tar Heel Creamery. The event starts at 5 PM and ends at 10:30 PM.
Friday, May 30th
As always on Friday, there is a mini-rodeo in the RTP at 800 Park Offices Drive from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Check out the line-up.
Triangle Localista tipped me of the first event of the Music on the Porch series. The Long Leaf Pine Nuts will perform and Philly’s Cheesesteaks will provide the food. The event is held at the Mordecai Historic Park from 6 to 9pm with music starting at 7pm. For adults, wristbands for the event cost $7 and 20% of the wristband sales goes to support the park.
Newly Added! This was an oversight on my part as it is on the blog’s Festival Calendar, but I forgot to add on here. The last of the Blues on the Plaza concert series at Northgate Mall is this Friday. CJ’s Street Food the food truck will be here. With Carolina Brewing Company serving beer and Papa Mojo’s Roadhouse will also provide food. Music will be performed by Charlie Ward & Friends with John Doe Holeman.
Newly Added! For the next several Fridays into the summer, The PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series will take place in City Plaza (Fayetteville Street) in Downtown Raleigh. The festivities, which include an outdoor movie, a band, a beer and wine tent and food trucks start at 5:00 pm and ends at 10:30pm. The feature will start after sundown, which the event estimates between 8:15pm and 8:30pm. The food truck hasn’t been specifically announced, but American Meltdown, Baguettaboutit, D’Burritos, The Humble Pig, and Kona Shaved Ice have been listed as participating in the series. This weekend the feature is Talladega Nights and Nuclear Honey will perform.
Saturday, May 31st
Not Just Icing alerted me of an event they will be at the Oxford Strawberry Jam. The Granville Arts Council organized an event in downtown Oxford. In addition to Not Just Icing, Baton Rouge Cuisine, Kocina, LoYo on the Go, Obriant’s Deputy Dawgs, and Porchetta. The event is from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Later, an event tipped by The Triangle Explorer is the Bash MS organized by Carolina Brewing Company. With $4 pints, a bounce house and corn hole boards, this event will be great for families. Food trucks in attendance will be Deli-icious, Jam Ice Cream, Sol Tacos, and Valentino’s. Also performing will be The Tornado Blues Band. The organizers mention to bring a lawn chair. Proceeds at the event will benefit the National MS Society.
The event will be held at Carolina Brewing Company (140 Thomas Mill Road, Holly Springs) from 4 to 10 PM.
Newly Added! Gussy’s Greek Truck will be at a Greek Festival organized by St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Durham. The event is on both Saturday and Sunday, June 1st from 11 AM to 9 PM. The church is located at 8306 NC Highway 751. Proceeds at the event will go to St. Barbara Building Fund and American Red Cross.
Newly Added! Sweet Traditions by LeAne alerted me on Phil’s Friends Walk For Hope and Family Fun Day at Hope Lutheran Church in Wake Forest. The event will be from 9am – 1pm and both Sweet Traditions and JAM Ice Cream are confirmed to be there.
Hope Lutheran Church is located at 3525 Rogers Road in Wake Forest.
Newly Added! Tailgater Toby’s alerted me of event they will be at in Fayetteville. The event is a Paws 4 Cerebral Palsy Fundraiser by Fayetteville Crusaders for Christians. Details can be found here but it is an event to raise funds to gift a service dog to a 2 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy. The event is from 11 am to 9pm
Event is at Festival Park Plaza Building in Fayetteville (225 Ray Avenue).
Sunday, June 1st
Another tip from The Triangle Explorer, this time a rodeo in Carrboro. The event is hosted by the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors for their charitable project Fix-A-Home Project. The event includes a food truck rodeo and silent auction. The trucks in attendance are Chirba Chirba Dumpling, Captain Ponchos, MaMa Duke’s, Parlez Vous Crepes, Pie Pushers, and Tar Heel Creamery. Also, Steel String Brewery will served beer and Tea Cup Gin will perform. Sounds like an awesome Sunday evening event.
The event will be at the Carrboro Town Commons (301 W. Main Street). The event is from 3 PM to 7 PM.
