July 7th: Triangle Food Truck News

Few things happening on the Food Truck scene here in the Triangle

Sarge’s Chef on Wheels

Sarge’s Chef on Wheels opening in Rolesville today (July 7th) and weekdays from 6:30am-2pm  for Breakfast and Lunch at 400 Southtown Circle Rolesville.  If you are a fan of Julius’ Shrimp and Grits and Po’ Boy like me, you are probably excited about making it to his storefront.

Olio and Aceto

On Saturday, July 12th now July 19th (that’s how openings go), Olio and Aceto will open their cafe to the public.  If you haven’t tried them yet, they are famous for using the beers at their brewery stops and making menu items out of them.  The cafe is in Chapel Hill near the cross streets of US 15-501 and Elliot Rd (400 S Elliott Rd, Chapel Hill).

Valentino’s

A really cool guy I’ve met on the food truck scene, Steve, is doing a kickstarter for new equipment and help start-up a web cooking show.  If you have ever been to Lonerider Brewing on a Thursday, you have tasted Valentino’s great creations.

Will and Pops, Not Just Icing

I try to stay abreast of all philanthropic events food trucks do.  For the month of July, Will and Pop’s and Not Just Icing will collect non-perishable items when on the road for Central and Eastern North Carolina Food Bank.

New Trucks

If you don’t follow me on Twitter, you may have missed Green Olive Truck, Bo’s Kitchen, Hanu Truck, Jakki’s Juice Jam, and Wicked Biscuit.

All-American, which has been on Twitter for awhile, has hit the streets recently and Fire Chef Raleigh looks to be almost “street-ready”.

Thanks to Triangle Explorer, John Park, Truxie and Sara Michael for these new truck

One non-thing food truck related…

I’m trying to be as coffee smart as my friend, Exploring Coffee (who is also the Triangle Explorer).  He introduced me via Twitter to BrewDTR, which is building a new coffeehouse in Seaboard Station.  They are looking for some final funding to get everything it the right place.  If you are interested, check out the kickstarter site.

Also, if you haven’t done so – vote for your favorite food truck this month.  On the first Monday of August, we’ll release the results.
