Wednesday Update: February 25th

Here are things to add on to Monday’s news (or reminders of some things you have to do).

Baguettaboutit owner passes away

A huge hug and thoughts for the Baguettaboutit family.  Chris Derby, owner of Baguettaboutit cafe and food truck, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Monday night.  He was very active in the business community, primarily in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area.  Please have them all in your hearts as this never an easy situation.  For more details on Derby’s accomplishments, you can read here.

Caffe Bellezza and Belgian Waffology serving Breakfast in Raleigh

This food truck combination has been pretty successful in RTP and Durham.  Now, Raleigh can show their love and watch breakfast magic happen.  Both food trucks are very popular as Belgian Waffology usually has lines at rodeos and Caffe Bellezza at Hunt Street Market.  Though this Wednesday, that means Today!  Both trucks will be at 3301 Benson Drive (behind the Hyatt Place and Midtown Hilton on Wake Forest).  I think this is a great opportunity to have both trucks, especially with Wake County Public Schools closed (bring the kids!)

Olio and Aceto-Fortnight

Fortnight Anniversary

With the local brewery scene quickly growing, it is hard to fathom that breweries like Fortnight are just celebrating their first anniversary.  Fortnight is pulling out all the stops with Big Mike’s BBQ serving from 12-4 pm (be sure to check out Brew N Que nearby), cupcakes with Sweet Traditions from 1-4 pm, and Olio and Aceto from 4-9pm, serving their famous beer battered fish & chips.

For entertainment, Fortnight will have tours from 2-4pm, a Darts Tournament at 3 pm, a bouncy castle (dependent on weather), face painting for kids, and a 5K Fun Run (details here).  Music entertainment kicks off at 4pm with The Live Oaks, followed by Mountain Blue Trio at 6pm, Sterling Scott at 8pm, and Archbishops of Blount Street at 9pm.
Fortnight Brewing is a British-inspired brewery in Cary.  They are located at 1006 SW Maynard Rd. fortnightbrewing.com

Makers Flea Market

While I got a little excited thinking Pop Up Sundays were back at Ornamentea, but actually this is a separate event (Pop-Up Sundays come back in April).  This Saturday, February 28th, Ornamentea will host Makers Flea Market.  Artists and Crafters will be on hand to show off their stuff.  The event will go from 10 am to 3pm, Rain or Shine.  For more details, check out the Event Page with a possible food truck to be announced.

Ornamentea is located at 509 N. West Street in Raleigh

Olio and Aceto  Wine Dinner

The theme, “Reinvented and Amplified” Southern, happens this Thursday, February 26th rescheduled to Thursday, March 12th at Olio and Aceto’s Cafe in Chapel Hill.  The dinner includes a 4 course meal paired with wine.  The wine pairings have not been released, but the courses can be found here.  The cost is $60 per person, which includes taxes and gratuity.
