Trains, Trucks, and Bicycles: Wandering to Jamestown for a Food Truck Festival

I made the excuse plenty of times, “I can’t do it. It won’t work.” But this time I convinced myself, “it will work.”  What was I holding back from and making excuses: riding the train from Raleigh to somewhere.  This past weekend,  I saw an event in Jamestown, NC with Triad trucks and thought, today has to be the day.  First I looked to see how far Jamestown was from the nearest Amtrak station, High Point.  Then I looked at how I would get there by bike.  About 5-6 miles, it looked attainable.   So, I went to amtrak.com bought a ticket, pumped air in my tires, and drove to Cary’s Amtrak Station.

Behind The Wheel: Bam Pow Chow

One of the great advantages of food trucks is that owners are on the truck daily. This brings a tight bond between the owner and their hungry patrons. Since many of us only get that small time between ordering and grabbing our food, I wanted to help bring us together. That’s when I got the idea, Behind The Wheel. Gets me back to telling the story and further enjoying – being around food trucks. This week I highlight Bam Pow Chow.

Wandering in Missoula: Food Trucks

The evening debate: What’s for dinner? As we sit in the hotel brainstorming the idea, I pick up the Destination Missoula visitor guide.  As we review some of our finds wandering the downtown, my eyes scan the Dining section and I silently yell “Eureka!”  As we ponder the last restaurant, I propose another idea, “Food Trucks?”  My wife puzzled, “They have food trucks here?”  I mention the sidebar that mentions Tuesday evenings trucks are parked at Scott and Toole in Missoula.  Not wanting to drive, but willing to walk I find the trucks are not too far away.  My wife obliges my cravings and prepares for a walk.
