Behind The Wheel: Wright Up Ur Galley

One of the great advantages of food trucks is that owners are on the truck daily. This brings a tight bond between the owner and their hungry patrons. Since many of us only get that small time between ordering and grabbing our food, I wanted to help bring us together. That’s when I got the idea, Behind The Wheel. Gets me back to telling the story and further enjoying – being around food trucks. This week I highlight Wright Up Ur Galley.

ROAM Conference: November 8-9, 2014

Since I started focusing on food trucks, I’m always looking for unique events. One event that I had not found was an industry or professional-type event centered on the mobile food industry. And then I heard about ROAM.

Roam Mobile Food Conference discusses topics important to those in the mobile food industry. The conference is divided into two days of sessions on food truck information. The first day provides topics on Health Inspections, Legal issues, and general issues. The second day offers more specialized discussions with concurrent sessions discussing Social Media, Business Planning, Business Growth, and more. While the event is held in San Antonio, the speakers are from other food truck areas like Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago, and more. The multiple areas brings value of different perspectives and experiences on what worked and did not work in those areas.

If you are interested in learning more about the industry or perhaps add a little spice to your mobile food business, I’d take a look at the sessions and panelists. The organizers are offering a $50 discount off the registration fee if you use OctSpecial50off code. Let me know if you plan on attending, it would be great to exchange ideas.

Art and Labor: Not Just Icing

Occasionally, I can convince a food truck owner to let me on their truck (or maybe it’s vice versa).  What they think they are getting is free labor, but actually I just want to get closer to the food.  I am sure on Admin day when they recall their food costs for that day, an abnormal increase in food costs and decline in revenues occurred.  This segment focuses on the cupcake truck, Not Just Icing.
