One of the great advantages of food trucks is that owners are on the truck daily. This brings a tight bond between the owner and their hungry patrons. Since many of us only get that small time between ordering and grabbing our food, I wanted to help bring us together. That’s when I got the idea, Behind The Wheel. Gets me back to telling the story and further enjoying – being around food trucks. This week I highlight Wright Up Ur Galley.

Durham Central Park Rodeo
Live Music (Big Brotha Thunda performing), lawns to relax on, Food Trucks, and local Beer – That’s what to like about Durham’s rodeo. Over 40 trucks parked around Durham Central Park, which are listed in the map above. Rodeo is on from 12-4pm and the address is 501 Foster Street, Durham.
Here’s a few recommendations:
- Get there early. With Foster Street closed around the old Liberty Drive-in, some of your favorite parking spots may not be available. Parking is one area where I can’t provide value.
- Bring a chair. There are a few seats around the park, but bring a chair or a picnic blanket and enjoy yourself.
- If it’s too crowded, Fullsteam is only a few blocks down Rigsbee. They have plenty of seating inside and outside to sit down.
- Beer Durham is doing a promotion on Sunday. For the 13 oz price, you can get a 16 oz pint and keep a really cool glass. They are in the Measurement Inc building located at 404 Hunt Street, a block from the Durham Central Park.

A Very Brunchy Sunday at The Cookery
If you haven’t heard, The Cookery is opening its doors today for a Sunday Brunch catered by Pie Pushers, cocktails byAlley Twenty Six, tastings by my favorite wine shop, Wine Authorities, and more from other Cookery members. The Cookery is asked attendees to RSVP, which will help them gauge attendance. It has over 340 RSVPs, when I last checked it. For more information, see the event’s Facebook Page.
Pop-Up Sunday at Ornamentea
Located: (509 N. West Street, Raleigh)
On the 4th Sunday of every month, Ornamentea organizes a Pop-Up Market in front of their shop. Lots of different artisans, food trucks, local brews, and one nonprofit organization. This month’s trucks are D’Burritos, Halal Bros, and Jay’s Italian Ice. Jay mentioned he’s bringing a guest’s favorite, Iced Tea, so yo may want to swing by to check out the market and cool-off with Italian Ice.
Find more details or contact info on scheduling your truck, check out the market’s site here.
4th Sunday Greensboro Rodeo
This rodeo is down on the Railyard in Downtown Greensboro. It’s fairly new, so I haven’t wandered over yet – but the line-up is pretty solid. Urban Street Grill (which now takes debit/credit transactions), Bandito Burrito, Ladybug’s Treats, Great Escape, Fish-N-Wings, Smitty’s Ice Cream, Worx, and King Creole. Music provided by Blues World Order and nearby Grove Winery will sell their local wine.
